Step In

Terms of use and legal notice

Last updated: 18 October 2026 · Version 1

This is a translation. If the two versions differ, the Spanish version prevails.

1. Owner

The Step In app and this website belong to Carlos Macías Martín, resident in Spain. Contact: support.stepin@gmail.com.

2. What Step In is

Step In is a phone app that takes two photos shot from the same place and adds the person in the second photo to the first one. By downloading or using the app you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

3. Licence

We grant you a personal, free, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the app on your devices, under these terms and the rules of the store you download it from (Google Play or, when available, the App Store). The app, its code, name and design belong to the owner or its licensors. You may not copy, sell, decompile or modify it, except as expressly permitted by law.

4. Your photos are yours

The photos you take and the ones the app creates are yours. We don't receive or use them: the app processes them on your phone (see the privacy policy).

5. Responsible use

You are responsible for the photos you take and what you do with them. In particular:

6. Free version and Step In Pro

The app can be used for free. The free version may save photos with a discreet watermark or at a lower resolution.

If Step In Pro is offered in your version of the app, it is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. Its price, including taxes, is shown before you pay. Payment, the invoice or receipt and refunds are handled by the store (Google Play or the App Store) under its own terms. You can restore the purchase on another device with the same store account.

Right of withdrawal: Step In Pro is digital content that is activated as soon as you pay. By buying it, you agree that it starts immediately and acknowledge that you therefore lose the 14-day right of withdrawal. This doesn't affect your rights if Pro doesn't work as described: in that case, write to us or ask the store for a refund.

7. Requirements and availability

The app needs a phone that supports ARCore with Google Play Services for AR installed. The result depends on the light, the framing and on both photos being taken from the same place: we don't guarantee that every merge will be perfect. We may change, improve or remove features, and release updates.

8. Third-party services

Step In runs on Google Play Services for AR (ARCore), which is provided by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy, and uses Google's ML Kit. Use of those services and of the store is also governed by their own terms.

9. Liability

We do our best for the app to work well, but it is provided as is. We are not liable for damage caused by using the app against these terms, or for what you do with the photos. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited (for example, in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence).

10. This website

The texts, images and design of this website belong to the owner. You're free to link to it. Links to third-party websites (Google, the app stores) are for information only and we are not responsible for their content.

11. Changes

We may update these terms, for example when there are new features. We'll put the new date above and, if the change is significant, let you know in the app.

12. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you can bring a claim before the courts where you live and you keep the protections of the law of the EU country where you live. First of all, write to us at support.stepin@gmail.com: we'll try to sort it out.
